Pact Act
The PACT Act is a law that expands VA health care and benefits for Veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances. This law helps provide generations of Veterans—and their survivors—with the care and benefits they’ve earned and deserve.
Eligibility
Many Veterans believe they have to file a claim for disability compensation benefits – and get their claim approved – to get access to VA health care. But with this expansion and other authorities, that is not accurate. Bottom line: it’s now quicker and easier than ever for you to enroll.
Enrollment
All Veterans who meet basic service and discharge requirements and who were exposed to toxins and other hazards while serving our country—at home or abroad—are now eligible for VA health care.
Vietnam Veterans
If you served during the Vietnam War you may be at risk of certain health conditions. Learn about these conditions and what to do next to take care of your health.
Gulf War & Post-9/11
If you served as part of Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom or any another overseas military operation, you may be at risk of certain health conditions. Learn about these conditions and what to do next to take care of your health.
Toxins / Exposures
Regardless of when or where you served, if you were exposed to toxins and other hazards while serving our country, you should apply for VA health care. Even if you never deployed outside the U.S., you may be eligible. If you were exposed to toxins or hazards while on qualifying training or active duty in the United States, you should apply.
